  10. DESKTOP PAINT 256 is a powerful super-VGA paint program which will allow
  11. you to create and edit full colour pictures. It can load and save to
  12. PCX, GIF, TIFF (Colour and grey scale), and IFF/LBM graphics file
  13. formats. EMS support makes DESKTOP PAINT 256 capable of working with
  14. very large pictures.

  16. DESKTOP PAINT 256 has a full range of drawing tools. It will perform
  17. basic drawing functions such as adding lines, rectangles, ellipses and
  18. so on to a picture. You can zoom in and edit details and draw freehand
  19. with color brushes. You can also cut and paste image fragments, as well
  20. as importing and exporting them. There's also an undo function to deal
  21. with mistakes.

  23. A variety of special effects are also available under DESKTOP PAINT
  24. 256. You can rotate, flip and invert areas of a picture. You can also
  25. stain, smudge, posterize and soften parts of a picture... the latter
  26. effect is particularly effective at reducing the effects of moire
  27. scanning aberrations.

  29. DESKTOP PAINT 256 also allows you to add text to a picture. It comes
  30. with a selection of three fonts, and you can add more to it if you like.
  31. The optional font toolkit provides additional fonts and a selection of
  32. utilities to convert fonts from Macintosh FONT resources, GEM/VDI font
  33. files and Windows FNT files.

  35. DESKTOP PAINT 256 requires a Microsoft compatible mouse and driver and
  36. one of the following super VGA display adapters:

  38. ~ Paradise Plus (256K on board)
  39. ~ Paradise Professional (512K on board)
  40. ~ ATI VGA Wonder card (256K or 512K on board)
  41. ~ Headland Video7 or 1024i card (256K or 512K on board)
  42. ~ Most Tseng Labs cards which use the 4000 series chip set
  43. ~ Trident cards which use the 8900 series chip set

  45. Cards which are genuinely compatible with these are also
  46. suitable. For example, there are numerous cards which use the
  47. Western Digital chip set and are thus effectively Paradise cards.
  48. The OEM VGA cards supplied with Dell computers behave as Paradise
  49. cards, for example.

  51. DESKTOP PAINT 256 does not run in the "standard" 320 by 200 pixel
  52. VGA mode. Drivers for additional super-VGA cards are in the
  53. works.
